2008 was another successful year as our board of directors, staff and consultants worked together to meet the many diverse financial needs of our CSDA member districts. We funded more than $100,000,000 for projects that included a solar installation for Chico Area Recreation and Park District, an ambulance and cardiac monitor for Coast Life Support District and a new building for Keyes Fire Protection District.

The high quality of financial management within special districts was again reflected in our 20 year record of zero defaults in all that time. That record is a significant factor in our ability to finance your needs during these difficult economic times. We are excited about the prospects for 2009 as we prepare to take up the slack created by the rapidly dwindling supply of state and federal funding sources and the collapse of many large financial institutions.

While we readily admit we cannot match the low interest rates that have been offered by state and federal agencies in limited amounts in past years, we can still provide reasonable rates for many mandated projects that don’t qualify for grants or low-interest loans or where such loans no longer exist. The good news is that the current economy is forcing down the costs on many projects where the savings easily exceed the higher interest costs.
